There are some wonderful displays of primary art work in the downstairs hallways. In Mrs. Cooper's class, students were learning about numbers in the real world. Many classes participated in learning about Remembrance dDay. Thanks to Sgt. Rowan and Mrs. Musyka and our cubs and brownies for helping at the assembly. Our Remembrance day wreaths and displays in the foyer. Our noon hour choir under the direction of Mrs. Curtis started Thursday November 12th. All grade 3,4, and 5 students are invited to join. Math strategies in Mrs. Aurora's class. Great evidence of communicating your learning by showing your peers. Students are working with base ten blocks to show understanding of place value. Understanding is demonstrated through reading response journals in grade one and two. Great example of personal responsibility and self regulation that is present in the new BC Curriculum. Writing about super heroes and learning how to behave in an assembly. Great to see students learning about writing which is one of our school goals in our Action Plan. Big buddies working with little buddies. Evidence of cooperation, collaboration and effective communication together amongst age groups. All of our divisions work with buddies. A directed art lesson. Learning how to paint with water colours.Thanks to our wonderful PAC who always supports our school. Please come to the craft fair on December 5th which will beheld in our gym. Preparing for our Remembrance Day Ceremony on November 10th at 10:45am. All families are invited to come to this special assembly. Lots of pumpkin activities were happening this week in preparation for Halloween. Thanks to all the parents who cams out to help. Ghoulish crafts were decorating the hallways. Lots of costumes were at school onFriday October 30th. There was a costume parade in the afternoon in the gym. Happy Halloween from the Staff at Richard Bulpitt Elementary School!!
On Monday October 19th, the federal election was happening in our country. At Richard Bulpitt, students has an opportunity to come to the gym and see the polling stations in action. AT the same time, our Learning Commons Library was preparing for its book fair. Sales opened on Tuesday and many students came to shop and but. Thanks to everyone for their support. Thanks to our parent volunteers who came to help. A major port of the profits are returned to the school. The Safari refuge society came to school on Tuesday and presented many interesting animals and reptiles for students to observe. Tortoises, turtles, scorpions and snakes were all a part of the presentation. Mrs. Cowland in the library learning commons, was prepared for a busy book fair. Thanks again to all the folks who came out and supported the book fair. On Wednesday a very excited group of students and chaperones attended "Me to We" in Vancouver. It was a packed event and our students enjoyed every minute. At school, students continued to share their learning and many displays are in the upstairs hallways showcasing student learning. Mrs. Smith's class spent some time learning about their rights as citizens. The elections, gave students a real life opportunity to learn about democracy . Another great week of learning at Richard Bulpitt.
Students had an opportunity to listen to Laura from the Me to We Foundation on October 7th. We will have 19 students attending the Me to We rally in Vancouver on October 21st. Division 10 has been learning about patterning.They have great display up sharing their learning. Thanksgiving books were in the library learning commons as we all prepared for Turkey and Thanksgiving. We were very proud of our students as they brought in donations for the food bank. Our school was presented with a LEED plaque because we are now officially a "Leader in Energy and Environmental Design." Our special guests were treated to a musical performance by our student leaders. Many of our older students learned about elections through participating in a Student vote. The Library learning Commons was transformed into a polling station and students voted for the candidate of their choice. The whole school participated in Shake-Out Earthquake drill. We went through a mock Earthquake and evacuated the school of all children and adults. We were very fortunate to have our earthquake kits donated to us by Forester’s Financial (www.foresters.com). Their donation of $4750.00 helped purchase 14 classroom earthquake kits to cover 14 divisions in our school in case of an earthquake. Our school PAC purchased another 7 kits to protect our entire school population of students and staff in case of emergency. Mr. Flack has once again started his very popular Chess club. Right now our grade fours are teaching our grade threes chess. The pumpkin patch with grade 1 students was a lot of fun and educational. Students were fortunate that the weather was spectacular and warm. There were plenty of pumpkins for everyone. There were lots of sights at the pumpkin patch. Division 1 and Mrs. Krisko has been learning about Powtoons. The library Learning Commons has seen a lot of activity lately! Our amazing parents hosted a wonderful Halloween Dance on October 16, 2015. There were some wonderful costumes and it was great to see all the families participating. The Library Learning Commons is preparing for Halloween. We have some great books available. Don't forget to visit our Book Fair next week on Oct. 20th to 22nd. Our first assembly on Sept. 8th. Our grade 5 leadership team taught all students the Bulldog cheer. Staff were welcomed to the school with MARS chocolate bars, a favourite of Richard Bulpitt. Grade five leaders designed their name tags. Our youngest students were over-joyed to be able to play in the long-jump pit. We ended the first week with an afternoon concert in the gym. Students and adults listened to Will Stroet and his backyard band. It was a great way to end the first week. Teachers were preparing bulletin boards in their classrooms and the hallways. They were getting ready for "Meet the Teacher" night. On Pyjama day, students in music were tossing their stuffs in time to the music. Meanwhile, Mrs. Cowland was preparing the library learning commons for DOT day. Our amazing PAC sponsored a "Welcome Back to School" Bar b Que. The dads were wonderful cooks. On "Wear Orange to School" day, staff and students wore their orange colours to remind us that "Every Child Matters" and we care about our aboriginal learners who were placed in residential schools. This past Friday October 2nd, we held our Terry Fox run. Everyone in the school participated. Our students raised $1050. for cancer research. Way to go Bulldogs! It has been an amazing start-up to the new school year.

Country Bumkins preschool graduation happened in the RBES Multi-purpose room. Welcome future students to our school. Thank-you to our wonderful parents for our Staff appreciation lunch.It was delicious. We all felt so appreciated. Kindergartens visit Campbell Valley Park and learn about wildlife, animals and woodland trails. Father's Day picture blocks were made by division two. One of the best things about our courtyard is being able to sit outside and read. Fun at the watersides was had by grades 3,4, and 5. The weather was hot and the water was wet! Grade fives performing on their recorders at the Grade five Farewell. Thanks to Mrs. DeGroot for teaching these youngsters. Our last popcorn day from our amazing parents. Our grade fives receiving their school leaving certificates. Congratulations grade fives! Good luck at Yorkson Creek! Of course there has to be cake. We will miss all of our grade fives! Yes you all rocked!!! Last day of school in Mrs. Maines' classroom. Thank-you to the family of Mrs. Grant for donating her piano keyboard to the school. Mrs. Grant passed away suddenly last May. The plaque states "In memory of Mrs. Denise Grant." We will always think of her. The opening of Richard Bulpitt Park beside our school happened on July 8th. A large gathering of Bulpitt family members came for the opening. Thanks to one of our grade 1 students for helping with the ribbon cutting. Our Grade five Flashmob!! Performed at Sports-day. SO proud of these students. Have an amazing summer everyone. See you in September.
This week, our grade two students brought their wheels to school for "Wheels Week." Lots of scooters, roller blades and skateboards came to school. Kindergarten sharing in Mrs. Simoes' classroom. We had "welcome to Kindergarten" for our next year's k students this week. Soon they will be learning about sharing and how to make your projects go "WOW!" Divisions 1, 2 and 3 are learning about stop-motion photography with the i-pads. Lots of cool movies happening. In the library, Ms. Fraser had students recommend their favourite books! Lots of great suggestions for reading. Ms. Gard's grade three class have been busy with their genius hour projects. There have been some amazing examples of what students are passionate and interested in. Well done Fiona with your research about "One Direction." It was a blustery day for Sports day but there was no rain and a lot of fun! Students participated in stations and had a dance party at lunch time. Mr. Flack brought his wife's bike to the wheels parade and pedalled all the way around the field. The frisbee station was hard this year because the wind kept blowing the frisbees! Another great week at Richard Bulpitt Elementary school.
It has been a busy few weeks at Richard Bulpitt School. Mrs. Lenko has had some computer issues and was unable to update the Bulldog Blogg. There are lots of photos and events that are shared in this session. We received a long-jump pit at the beginning of the month. It was instantly adopted by our primary students and has been the Sandbox ever since. Our new park next door is very popular with the whole community. Every few weeks, Division 4 has been busy learning about plants and Gardens. They attend the Langley community gardens just off 200th street. This hands-on learning experience allows them to be in an outdoor classroom setting. There were many special cards and gifts created for Mother's day. The Me to We club sponsored an amazing bake sale. This club for grades four and fives are providing some great leadership opportunities for the school. Our last years' students came back to talk to our current grade fives about Yorkson Middle School. Hard to believe, we will transition our grade fives in just a few weeks. We are very proud of the students in Mrs. Rolston's class for saving up their allowance to contribute to the earthquake survivors in Nepal. We are building Global Citizens. Principal Caius and Vice Principal Rylan had an amazing day when they took over the administrative office! They even received a ride to McDonald's in the red mustang! The Grade 5s had wonderful warm weather for their swim program at Al Anderson Pool. The grade fours learned about scientific rotations at Playland. Our Principal of the day enjoys lunch in the office. Thanks to all of our Helping Moms! The grade five students had a group goto taken on the playground. The Starlab was in the gym one day. Students in grade two had the opportunity to go to the Planetarium. The Friday track meet at Mcleod Park was hot and exciting. Our students not only had great sportsmanship, they also proved to be able competitors. Well done Bulldogs! Mcleod Park 2015 Track meet. Thanks to Mrs. Mcdonald, Mr. Kroeker, Mrs. Connolly, Ms. Matson and Mr. Keranen for your work on preparing the students for the Trackmeet. Spring Carnival was a huge success! Mr. Kroeker enjoyed getting wet. Students and families from the community came and supported this fundraiser. The staff hosted a special parent tea in the multi-purpose room. Fine china, lace table cloths and delicate snacks were provided. Thanks Mrs. De Groot for having some of our students perform for parents. The weather was extremely cooperative for Beach day with grades 1,2 and 3. Everyone had a wonderful time. Sandcastles, catching crabs and running in the water were some of the activities at Beach day. Thank-you to Forresters Company for donating Earthquake kits to our school. We had some dedicated volunteers come on Friday and put the kits together. Goos to know that we are prepared. The Junkology man came to division 1 on Friday. Lots of cool things were created using all of the items that we think are useless. Good to see our students are recycling creatively! Another wonderful few weeks at Richard Bulpitt Elementary school.
On Monday April 27, the OWL presentation came to our school. Students learned about predators and other bird of prey. Mrs. Bailey's students have been busying gardening. They had beautiful tulips and other Spring flowers. They are now planting tomatoes and other vegetables to help them understand where vegetables come from. Kindergarten students are learning about the life cycles of plants, and the grade ones have kites flying on their windows. Thanks Mrs. De Groot for noon hour choir on Wednesdays. Mrs. Cramer's students are very artistic. Division one students went to Trinity Western University to learn about Rivers and fish habitat. Congratulations to Michael and his Mom for becoming Canadian citizens this week. We are very proud of you both!
