Thanksgiving books were in the library learning commons as we all prepared for Turkey and Thanksgiving. We were very proud of our students as they brought in donations for the food bank. Our school was presented with a LEED plaque because we are now officially a "Leader in Energy and Environmental Design." Our special guests were treated to a musical performance by our student leaders.
Many of our older students learned about elections through participating in a Student vote. The Library learning Commons was transformed into a polling station and students voted for the candidate of their choice. The whole school participated in Shake-Out Earthquake drill. We went through a mock Earthquake and evacuated the school of all children and adults. We were very fortunate to have our earthquake kits donated to us by Forester’s Financial (www.foresters.com). Their donation of $4750.00 helped purchase 14 classroom earthquake kits to cover 14 divisions in our school in case of an earthquake. Our school PAC purchased another 7 kits to protect our entire school population of students and staff in case of emergency.
Mr. Flack has once again started his very popular Chess club. Right now our grade fours are teaching our grade threes chess. The pumpkin patch with grade 1 students was a lot of fun and educational. Students were fortunate that the weather was spectacular and warm. There were plenty of pumpkins for everyone.
There were lots of sights at the pumpkin patch. Division 1 and Mrs. Krisko has been learning about Powtoons. The library Learning Commons has seen a lot of activity lately!
Our amazing parents hosted a wonderful Halloween Dance on October 16, 2015. There were some wonderful costumes and it was great to see all the families participating.
