5. Way to go Division 1 students learning about "extreme environments." There were projects on volcanoes, windstorms, and a Lego animation movie representing the bottom of the ocean. Students were engaged and proud to show their own learning. It was another great week of learning at Richard Bulpitt Elementary school. 5. Not only was Friday Valentine's day, but it was also love your learning commons day! Students wrote on small hearts their messages as to why they love the library. Our learning commons is used often. Before school and after school, children are in the library. A great way to have a love of reading! Happy Valentine's Day! 5. But the best thing that we boast about (other than learning!) is when our parents come to school with us to read. Especially when it is a Dad! It is so important for our youngsters (especially our boys) to have their Dads come and read with them. Make sure you participate this coming week in Family Literacy Week. Bingo sheets can be found in the newsletter and on the website. Bingo draws will be held on Friday afternoon during the Chinese New Year's Assembly. Have a great weekend! It's great to be a bulldog! 5. Mrs. Cowland went shopping on Friday with the funds donated to the library from our Parent Advisory Council. She bought books about Chinese New Year as well as non-fiction books about animals. Our learning commons is well supported by our families and our students use the space every day. Not only are there books available, but students have the opportunity to use i-pads and laptops in the learning commons. Our ceiling mounted projector is in use constantly. Students have learned how to use the district website resources. Mrs. Cowland is also busy teaching our ELL students the translation option on some of the book sites! We love her and boast about her! 5. Thanks Mr. MacDonald for posting the men's Olympic hockey team! We will also be hosting the Bulpitt Olympics next month! We are excited about watching the men's hockey games! Go Canada Go! 5. Thank-you for the gift of community. It has been a wonderful few months learning and growing together as a community. Pancake breakfast on Tuesday showed that we all ant to belong and participate. Thanks to all of our many volunteers, our students and our hard-working staff. Have a wonderful holiday and a restful Christmas. See you in the New Year! |
