1. Division 4 loved "The Book With No Pictures." Lots of laughter as this story was read to them. Afterwards, many of the students borrowed the book from Mrs. Lenko and read it to their classmates. Just goes to prove that this book needs no pictures to be engaging with students of all ages.
3. This week it was pumpkins, pumpkins everywhere. Thanks so much to the parents who came into classes to help with the pumpkin activities. Students, measured, counted, cooked and carved pumpkins. On Thursday, Enn's farms delivered close to 200 pumpkins to our school. The back fields became our own private pumpkin patch. Parents came and unloaded the truck and then placed the pumpkins in the back field. Students were able to come out and choose their pumpkin. The only thing was they had to be able to carry it back to their classroom.
4. Thursday night there was great excitement! Our wonderful Parent Advisory Council sponsored a Halloween dance. A highlight was a visit from the dynamic duo and many other ghosts, goblins, monsters and super heroes. The gym was crowed with people of all ages dancing. Activities included the concession stand, pumpkin golf and a chance to win the "Great Pumpkin." Thanks to our parents for hosting this event. |
5. On Friday, students stayed home while staff went back to school. Mr. Keranen and Mr. Kroeker attended a day long workshop given by Alan November. The event was held at the Langley Golf Center. Other staff members participated in self-directed activities and the kindergarten conference at Brookswood. It is important for staff to continue to model their learning as well. It was another great week at Richard Bulpitt Elementary School.
