The past two days have been very exciting at our new school. We had our flag-raising ceremony which was attended by almost our whole school community. Mrs. Valerie Bulpitt and her daughter, son and a grandchild were present to assist in raising the flags. Afterwards our students had their first assembly in their new gymnasium.
All of our students spent their day in grade appropriate classes today. They were able to reconnect with old friends, meet new friends and also begin the relationships with their teachers. If you walked through the halls at RBES today, you would have seen students engaged and learning. Our kindergarten students started their gradual entry today. A constant stream of little people walked through the front door to our K classes.
The playground was very popular. Some older students played soccer in the hockey box and younger students played basketball on our new courts. There were tag games happening everywhere. The slides and swings were very popular.
Today our grade 5 leadership team began monitoring our primary classes. They did a fantastic job. We tried a reverse lunch hour today. Students played outside first and then came into eat lunch. We will ask students next week if they prefer their lunch time reversed.
Tomorrow and Friday, students will continue to attend their grade classrooms. In the meanwhile, teachers are in discussions regarding classes for the coming year.
