The first month of school has been exciting, wonderful and fast. Many great things have happened at our school this month. We had the flag raising ceremony, the Ache Brasil concert in the gym, Meet the Teacher Night, School Improvement Day, and our first Panorama Photo. | Our Panorama photo shoot had great weather. The sun was shining and everyone had their best smiles. Our pre-schoolers joined us on the bench in the front. All of our grades lined up from grade 1 to grade 5. It was a special day. |
Boasting About Bulpitt Bulldogs!
1. Noisy Reading!
Some of our kindergarten classes have been participating in noisy reading. Families are invited into the classroom where they read with their youngsters. It is important for adults to read with their youngsters every day in order to build literacy skills. Noisy reading is a great way to draw everyone into the love for reading.
2. Active Learning! During the month of September, there is an amazing amount of learning that takes place. Children learn the routines and expectations of the new classrooms. At RBES, every child and adult in the school had to learn a new way of doing things. We developed the "Safety First" playground rules and how to act when you reverse lunchtimes. Teaching our Kindergarten students how to play outside at recess and lunch times was another accomplishment. We are grateful to our grade five school leaders for assisting us with monitoring kindergarten and primary classrooms.

3. Terry Fox Run!
On September 26th, RBES had the first Terry Fox run! Our youngest students ran outside around the building. Our oldest students ran around a course in the neighbourhood. Special thanks to our staff and parents who walked the course, kept kids safe and cheered everyone on. Some of our youngest students ran 5 laps or more around the school. We raised over $700. for the Cancer fund. We were fortunate to have Fred Fox, Terry's brother come and speak to all of our students. His inspiration about following your dreams and never giving up was a boost to us all.
4. Thanks to our parent advisory council. For the past three weeks a group of dedicated volunteers have come to RBES every morning and collected coupon books, collected money, and kept track of which students had sold any number of books. Today all of the students in our school are receiving ice cream before they go home because of their efforts. Thanks so much to our parents! We are boasting about you!

5. Boasting about our parent volunteers! Today the wonderful aroma of apples and cinnamon came out of our Kindergarten kitchen. A great reminder that Fall has an abundance of things to be thankful about.
There are many more events and things that we want to boast about and I hope to be able to write about this on a regular basis.
We are well on our way after the first month of school! It will be a super year.
