Just one more month of school, two months of summer and then it will be September. This is when this upstairs hall will hear and feel the footprints of students at school for the first time. The upstairs classes are 95% completed. The woodwork has to be installed on the walls up to the interior windows.
The month of May has been extremely busy. Registration of students is happening every day as more and more families move into the neighbourhood. The building and the grounds of RBES are rapidly shaping into a real school. We developed a PAC executive, our daycare/pre-school has started registrations during their Open House and we met with our families on May 21st at Lynn Fripps.
The next few weeks will also be busy. On the night of the 31st of May, RBES parents will be running the concession stand at the Willoughby fun fair, our teachers will meet on June 4th for a planning session, and we are hosting a "Welcome to Kindergarten" session on June 12th for our over 60 kindergarten students. On Tuesday June 11th, we will meet with our community at Lynn Fripps at 7:00 pm for the last time before school starts. At that time we will have an update and make some plans for our August Bar B Que.

This is the view of the courtyard behind the school right beside the library. It is where on August 29th we will be hosting our first community bar b que at 5:00 pm. All families who are registered at RBES are invited to come. We might even let you have a "sneak" preview of the inside of the school.
In the afternoon, from 2:00-4:00, Country Bumkins will be opening their doors to families who have registered with them. They will host an Open House before joining us at the Bar B Que.
On the same day at 10:00 in the morning, all grade 5 students are invited to come for a special meeting. Our top intermediate students are a vital part of our school community. They will be our leaders in our brand new building. I have met so many outstanding grade 5 students, that I am eager and excited to have them as part of our school. We are counting on them to show leadership to our younger students by becoming ambassadors of our school. There will be an activity planned for our grade fives as well as a chance to meet their classmates and to tour the school ahead of time. At the bar b que, as well as the first day of school, I am counting on their help to show families where things are in our new building. There will also be other opportunities throughout the school year for our grade 5 leadership team. As always, please drop by to see me in my office at Wiloughby, and I hope to see familiar faces at the Willoughby fun fair on May 31st.
